Top 20 Best Modern Family Guy Episodes

Description

I really wanted to do this list in a very very long time and I'm finally doing this. I can't believe there are 20 great episodes that I found in new generation of Fmaily Guy. I always say that even though modern Family Guy is so offensive, so mean-spirited and so lazy, I really can't hate this show because there were at times that modern Family Guy surprised us with some really funny and creative episodes. This 20 list exists why. Now the rules of this list is that I can't add season 4-6 into the list because even though season 4-6 seasons were flawed but really funny seasons IMO. I'm also excluding season 7 and 8 because Family Guy started to get modern with wide-screen just like every cartoon did in 2009 or 2010. Lets start with honorable mentions first:

Ratings Guy - This was a really interesting one because we see what will happen If Family Guy was the neilson family. We also get a really good moral and some funny jokes.

Roads to Vegas - This was a way better "Road to" episode than Road to North Pole, it has a smart plot, funny jokes and some really dark twists that I really appericiated it. However, it is still weak, compared to other "Road to" masterpieces.

New Kidney in Town - I really wanted to include this episode on the list because this episode was really heartwarming and it actually made me cry and Peter and Brian's relationship was focused really well here. However, there are some flaws. The way how they turn this episode to heartwarming was stupid. I mean Peter poisining himself with a homemade energy drink? I admit that the first half of Pter being energic was funny but it was really stupid. I've had the same problem with Brian Wallows and Peter Swallows as well. Also Brian's speech to Meg really pissed me off.

The Hand the Rocks the Wheelchair - This was more of a remake of Barely Legal episode and yeah, Meg was creepy in this episode but it still worked. Meg's plot had some funny moments and Meg realized her mistake for framing Bonnie but the main reason why this episode is on honorable mentions list is that Stewie's plot was awesome. It was really funny, violent and it was good to see Evil Stewie again, even though Evil Stewie was a clone and much more violent than Stewie.

Quagmire's Quagmire - It's good to see that Quagmire got his own medicine. He didn't learn anything from this expirence, yes but it was still great to see him feeling pain. Plus this episode was funny.

Lets start this list, shall we?

#20 #JOLO - Man, wasn't this a huge surprise for me? This was such a great episode that deals with suicide. I repeat, suicide. It's really hard to believe that Family Guy tackled this issue correctly because most of time, they make jokes about suicide (Mom's The Word, anyone). The reason why this episode works is that it doesn't make fun of suicide and at the same time, it doesn't go too dark like Scream of Silence because this isn't 22 minutes of Joe commiting suicide. While, they took suicide seriously, it also managed to be funny because it knew when to put a joke and when to not. Also we've got a good climax at the last 5 minutes of this episode. My only thing that i didn't like in this episode was a long cutaway of Peter thinking of killing children. WTF?

#19 Leggo My Meggo - I've never seen Taken movie in my life (I want to see the movie tho) but I know this was a parody of Taken and man, it was awesome. Since this a parody of Taken, of course it's going to be action packed. However that's not the only great thing about this episode. It was great to see Stewie and Brian rescuing Meg because family doesn't care about Meg usually. My only problem is that status quo at the end, which was bothersome but it was still an amazing episode.

#18 Brothers & Sisters - It's really weird to have an episode about a major and Lois' sister but whatever. Major West is the only Family Guy character that hasn't been changed and I'm glad they kept his character same, tho I'm glad they developed his character in this episode. The relationships in this episode were just sweet and all characters were likeable in this episode. Plus the jokes were great, except for the AIDS joke, which is obviously ripped off from the South Park episode "Jared Has Aides"

#17 Take My Wife - I've already explained why this episode was so great but lets keep it short. It was a really funny episode with a chemistry that didn't make me facepalm.

#16 Secondhand Spoke - I know this episode is a reharsh of Mr. Griffin Goes to Washington, which is one of the best Family Guy episodes of all time but I loved this episode as well. For the second time, they focused on how dangerous the smoking is. Yeah, it was handled better than Mr. Griffin Goes to Washington but it works here too because the way you see Peter getting sicker is enough for people to see why smoking is dangerous. We also have a STewie/Chris plot, which was very nice. It has a good moral and Chris and Stewie's relationship was something new to see. Although It's weird that Chris could understand what Stewie says but it works in the episode.

#15 Internal Affairs - Hey, you guys, remember the episode Foreign Affairs, which was an episode when Bonnie was so unlikeable for wanting o cheat on Joe and it was such a bad episode? How do we fix it? Well, let Joe make the same mistake but it's because Bonnie wanted to cheat on Joe in the first place. Although yeah, making the mistake that the other person did is not right but we can at least see why Joe wanted to do that but Bonnie had rights to get mad to Joe as well. They later separated from each other but Peter and Lois managed to at least fix the issue. Although the issue continues in later episodes (Bonnie being bloodthristy for Joe) but at least this episode ends season 10 on a good not. Also how awesome was that chicken fight? It is the best Chicken fight ever (Peter and Homer fighting not included).

#14 Halloween on Spooner Street - I know some people dislike this episode but I thought this was one of the raunchiness but also one of the funniest modern Family Guy episodes of all time. A lot jokes in all plots were so raunchy and so vulgar it was so great. Even the incest joke worked because the characters felt disgusted by the situation just like the joke in Rosewell That Ends Well episode of Futurama.

#13 Amish Guy - What can I say more about this episode? It was so funny, even the amish sterotypes work and family cares about Meg again.

#12 Joe's Revenge - This is definetly my favorite Joe centered episode ever. Remember the time when Joe told us why he became handicaped in his first episode? Well, it was all a lie to cover up the true story. Usually when twists like this happen, it come across as really insulting twists but it works here because Joe's fake story is so strange. The real story is more belieable. I'm glad they made this episode. It was really entertaining. It was great to see Joe chashing the person who crippled him. The ending was cringe-worthy but the rest of the episode was really funny.

#11 Space Gadet - Chris has to be the most unfocused character on the show and that's sad because I like Chris and I find him to be underrated. However when they focus on him, it's really good and this is the best Chris-centered episode since Saving Private Brian. The way the writer use Chris was really great and this episode was really fun to watch. There's a lot cutaway gags in this episode though but even the cutaway gags were funny for most part.

#10 Forget Me-Not - Now, we are getting to the good ones. One of the most creative Peter/Brian stories ever told. The entire episode is so interesting with a lot great jokes but it gets really hearwaming at the end and it didn't happen because of a stupid situation either. It's a really unquie and underrated episode.

#9 Brian's Play - I can't believe I disliked this episode at the first place. I'm pretty sure a lot of people would put this episode at #1 or #2 on their list but the reason why it's low on the list is that there are not enough jokes honestly but even that isn't bothersome because it has some of the best Stewie and Brian stories ever told and a way better version of Brian Writes a Bestseller. Now Brian is unlikeable for barrying Stewie's play because Stewie's play is much better than Brian's Play but here's the reason why I can let it slide. Brian doesn't act this way for no reason unlike him being a douche to Stewie who helped him to become a besteller in the bestseller episode. He is jealous but he gets called out by Stewie very harshly and Brian gets devastated by this. Brian actually gets an emotional pain and that's really heartbreaking, you actually feel bad for Brian. Yea, he made a lot mistakes but here, he only wanted to be a good writer like Stewie. He actually gives us an emotional speech and all of these make this epsiode the most emotional Family Guy episodes in years.

#8 Valentine's Day in Quahog - I don't know why some people dislike this episode because I don't find anything wrong with this episode. It was funny from start to finish. It has a lot plots but all of them had enough screen time and they didn't feel rushed. I'm surprised that this Valentines Day episode was really great but at the same year, the valentine's day episode of The Simpsons was mediocre.

#7 Cool Hand Peter - I watched this episode like three times I think and it always makes me laugh. It's one of the funniest post-cancellation episodes ever. It really felt like a pre-cancellation era, at least to me. There are so many memorable lines and moments that there's nothing much to say about this episode anymore. Yes, I explained it shortly but that's because this episode only made me laugh a lot.

#6 Killer Queen - This is another episode that never got old for me. It was so damn funny and memorable but the best thing about this episode is Stewie's plot. When you watch this episode, you'll notice that Stewie's plot is similar to One Coarse Meal episode of SpongeBob, If you know what that episode is. Stewie's plot in this episode is One Coarse Meal done right IMO and that's strange because Family Gy barely do anything right. The reason is that Brian actually realizes that he has gone too far when he scares Stewie and Brian actually prevents Stewie from commitng suicide. Also the B plot is short and we don't see Stewie becoming depressed like Plankton in One Coarse Meal, so it's not hard to watch. A plot was well-done as well. I'm actually glad that Lois put Peter in a fat camp as well and he made a lot good jokes in it. Also you'll notice that a person tries to strangle Chris but instead he gets the wrong people and the death of these people is taken seriously and not comedic. So that's another plus.

#5 Mr. and Mrs. Stewie - It's been a very long time since we had an evil Stewie episode or an evil Stewie moment and I'm glad this episode focused on Stewie not being evil in years, even Brian poked fun at Stewie not saying "Victtory is mine" in years. Thank goodness, Penelope came to make Stewie evil again and they had a really good chemistry. Although they together made a huge chaos and Brian thinks Stewie should stay away from Penelope, however Penelope doesn't want that and she wants Stewie to kill Brian but Stewie can't kill Brian because Brian is his best friend. This episode shows us that even though Stewie is a diobalical baby, he really cares about Brian. The B plot was weird tho but it doesn't make the episode bad, it's a passabşe B plot and the rest of the episode is so good.

#4 And Then There Were Fewer - This episode is a fan favorite for many reasons. This episode is a 44 mnute mystery episode and it definetly lived up to our expectations. It kept our attentions with such an interesting mystery and an amazing atmosphere. While this episode isn't comedic, the comedy in this episode is in some places and it's funny. Also the twist in this episode was really amazing and unexpected.

#3 Back to the Pilot - This is the most conterversial one on the list because while a lot people loved it, some people hate it mainly because it focuses on 9/11 and from what I've heard, this episode tells you that 9/11 is a great thing to happen because there could have been worse than 9/11? No, it doesn't tell you that. It tells you that changing the past can affect the future in a bad way. Yes, this episode shouldn't focus on 9/11 but other than that, this episode was very smart and one of the funniest episodes of all-time and I loved how this episode poked fun at the pilot episode and the bad future parts were really hilarious. There are other amazing gags in this episode as well but I'm not going to spoil it and watch the episode to get your own opinion.

#2 Meg Stinks - People already know why I love this episode so much but I'm going to explain more here. It has become a fact that Family Guy will never stop abusing Meg, no matter how they make episodes about family respecting Meg again. However when there's an episode abou that, I always like it. Peter's Daughter, Road to Rupert, Amish Guy, Leggo My Meggo, Dial M for Meg are amazing episodes with really great humor but this episode is my favorite one in post-cancelation era because not only Peter was nice to Meg, we have a really heartwarming moment between Meg and Peter at the end of this episode. After getting tired of hanging out with Peter, Meg tells Peter that she wants Peter as her father, not as her friend and while it wasn't tear-jerking moment, it was still sweet. This episode has plenty of comedy in it too, especially in Brian plot.

So, what could be the best modern Family Guy episode in my opinion?

#1 THE BIG BANG THEORY - Man, It's really depressing to think that this show would've been great again, If the writers had tried too hard like this episode and not come up with awful premises like giving baby a herpe or a man beating his wife for 22 seconds. Grandted, this isn't the funniest modern Family Guy episode but it's the smartest and the most awesome one IMO. I really felt like I was watching my favorite show of all all time, Doctor Who, while watching this episode. It had sci-fi writing, it had comedy in some places, it had an awesome action and it has a really great animation. Maybe Family Guy should just stick with sci-fi, I dunno but the sci-fi they've done always impressed me and If they make more episodes like this, the show can be praised again, at least for being a cool sci-fi. I really want this show to be funny again, don't get me wrong but sci-f in this show is probablly the only good thing that is left from the show sadly but I hope they make really funny episodes as well.

There goes my top 20 best modern Family Guy episode and I'm asking you guys what's your favorite modern Family Guy episodes.
